New to Management is a two-day programme designed to give new managers the skills and awareness needed for management success. It provides a basis for understanding their role within an organisation and how it aligns with corporate culture and expectations.

Course Format

This course is delivered as blended learning, combining workshops and online tools.

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and explore issues relating to the course topics and consider ways in which they have encountered these issues in their work. During the workshops, participants will experience “real” situations and scenarios to transfer the theory of the course into practice.

The course includes an online questionnaire and feedback report of the CCAI Culture Awareness Adaptability Inventory. This is a 50-question online assessment on the four competencies essential for cultural adaptability:

  • Personal Autonomy
  • Emotional Resilience
  • Openness and Flexibility
  • Perception

This course also uses interactive support tools for SMART goal setting. Participants can access these tools through the AncoraHub during and after workshops, for ongoing post-training support.

Course Content

  • Module 1 – Management Approach

    Through this module, participants will understand the impact of different leadership styles on staff. They explore motivational theory and the importance of good working relationships at all levels in the organisation.

    Learning outcomes:

    • Understand your role as a manager in the workplace
    • Identify how to align your role with organisational values and culture
    • Recognise your management style and the impact on staff
  • Module 2 – Communicate Effectively

    Participants will learn how to demonstrate a management style that supports effective communication at all levels. They will be introduced to tools that support task prioritisation and delegation.

    Learning outcomes:

    • Recognise the benefits of delegation and accountability
    • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation
    • Prepare and be confident in crucial conversations to achieve desired outcomes
  • Module 3 - Planning Skills

    In this module, participants will utilise a range of appropriate methods for managing staff, and staff to management feedback, to create a culture that promotes engagement. It also equips participants with the tools for effective planning and time management.

    Learning outcomes:

    • Recognise and manage motivation
    • Demonstrate how to set SMART goals
    • Use the tools to support effective time management
  • Module 4 - Diversity and Culture Awareness

    Through the final module, participants will learn to recognise their level of adaptability when working with or leading a diverse workforce. Completing the CCAI Cultural Awareness Inventory, participants implement a coaching approach to develop key competencies.

    Learning outcomes:

    • Apply the four competencies for successful adaptability in a diverse workforce
    • Recognise how to coach a team for success
